Stunning Central Oregon Wedding

Shawn+Jenessa

It’s pretty rare that I don’t have a chance to really get to know my couples before I shoot their weddings. And even though we had been introduced at a wedding earlier in the summer, I wasn’t able to really chat with Jenessa until right before their October wedding in Bend. This girl was absolutely not what I would have expected. Hands down one of the funniest and laid back brides. From her converse that perfectly matched her flowers, to her hilarious movie quote impressions that left her bridesmaids doubled over laughing.

And in the midst of this celebration, these two were missing some of the most important people to them. Both Shaun and Jenessa had lost their fathers in the past year. And to say that the emotions ran high in the evening is an understatement. I’ve given up on trying not to cry at weddings. It’s useless. And when Jenessa and her mom danced at the end of the night to Michael Boltons “Fathers and Daughters”, there wasn't a dry eye in the room.

I was honored to be a part of this day. I have said it over and over that it’s a photographers dream to photograph couples and weddings this beautiful!

Congrats you two! And cheers to a lifetime of happiness together!

Lets get physical.....(insert high pitched voice and bad dance moves) PHYSICALLLLLL

Lets be honest. Intimate, half naked couples photos aren’t for everyone. But my god are they beautiful.

I don’t necessarily think every photographer wants to shoot them either. Maybe it takes a special kind of weirdo to be able to direct and make you comfortable enough to roll around your bed with you! I always have wanted to do one of these sessions, and now that I have I want to shoot more and more and more.

It was a dream. Really.

I couldn't have had a better couple to let me break into this sort of session with. My good friend Andrew is a talented local photographer as well and his gf Joslyn is ridiculously stunning. We laughed. We drank. And we spent hours just capturing their love. The freedom I had with them to try different poses and see what worked and what was awkward AF made the day so inspiring for me!

So first ever intimate couples session in the books! I NEED to do more of these! Who wants to be my next models???

Apparently I'm supposed to be blogging....

I’m honestly terrible at blogging. For real, I’d much rather be out shooting than sitting in front of my computer typing and trying to figure out how to generate more shoots! But apparently thats an important step in this business. Sooooo, here’s my first attempt at showing you all a little more from my sessions.

I found it fitting that the first blog post I manage to muster up is my actual family. My cousin Kayli and her husband Steven got married in their parents backyard in an intimate ceremony in May. No photographer, and very limited friends and family. So when she asked me if I would do a little bridal session with the two of them I jumped at the chance get them in front of my camera.

We have this amazing local farm called Fry Family Farm who recently opened the sweetest farm stand and she went out the morning of the session and threw together this bouquet. (Pretty sure she missed her calling!) Then I drove them to my favorite rest stop hahahaha! But for real. This happens to be at a rest stop in the mountains near our home in Southern Oregon.

I can’t stress enough that if you get the chance, put your dress back on, book me (or anyone else you follow and adore!), and go spend a day getting those epic couples photos you might not have had the time to get on the day of your wedding. Things get busy. There’s timelines and guests and an endless amount of stress or craziness. And while weddings are beautiful and special, getting the time to just enjoy your spouse and get dolled up again will bring back all of those feels.

I don’t have all the answers with things wedding related, but I have some pretty damn good advice! I’ll be sharing my thoughts on photography and life in general as I go and I hope it can help along the way!

xoxo
